Disease and Decoration
An exercise in how any source of inspiration can be used to produce decorative design work.
IF...
This was produced as back up artwork for a range of soft furnishings as part of my machine embroidery qualification. The idea was the creation of a modern martyr. Someone upon who all the diseases of humanity are afflicted, thereby leaving the rest of the world free of disease. In its own way, a positive image.
Methods: Hand dyed fabric (procion dye and black tea), applique, couched cords, free machine embroidery and acrylic paint.
